Indigo Spirit of Awareness Society addresses the social and health needs of the community, in a way that is respectful and inclusive of diversity in the valley's population.

Interesting name: where does it come from?

Indigo Spirit of Awareness Society is derived from the terms peace, truth, honesty, acceptance and redefining the true inner-self. This is commonly called Christ consciousness.
The colour indigo is associated with the crown chakra (wheel of light), passion, higher state of being, heighten state of awareness, and the colour of perception and the spirit. It indicates maturity, inner calmness and reliability. Indigo also means a rich inner life and sense of unity.

Indigo relates to self responsibility - in other words-, being responsible for one's own life, trusting ones own intuition, and having the ability to see things from a higher viewpoint or higher perspective.

These are the principles that drive the work of Indigo-Spirit, and we believe these are also the principles that will guide all humans to a common understanding, acceptance and compassion for all youth - including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning youth.
